Lawrence C, Markiewicz is starting his fourth season with the Harmony Program where he serves as Artistic Director and Conductor of the HPYO South. Mr. Markiewicz also provides teacher mentoring at many Harmony Program Sites and has conducted the summer program orchestra every year since 2015.
Always active as an educator and conductor Mr. Markiewicz has been in demand as a guest conductor and brass pedagogy specialist for the past twenty five years making appearances across the United States, England and Japan. In 2016 Mr. Markiewicz became the newly appointed conductor of the Stevens Institute of Technology Orchestra and has also been an adjunct faculty member at Montclair State University since 2006. Markiewicz spent five years as Assistant Artistic Director for the InterSchool Orchestras of New York and from 2010-2015 was Music Director of The Imperial Brass (British Brass Band). During his tenure with Imperial Brass, he conducted many high profile concerts, and led the ensemble in the recording studio on several critically acclaimed CD recordings. Mr. Markiewicz has conducted soloists such as Joe Alessi, Phil Smith, Brett Baker and has collaborated with iconic composer Joseph Turin on several projects.
Mr. Markiewicz has recently completed all coursework for a Doctorate in Orchestral Conducting under the baton of Australian Maestro Kynan Johns and expects to have his degree conferred later this year. Mr. Markiewicz has traveled as a guest conductor and brass pedagogy specialist for the past twenty years across the United States, England and Japan.
