This year, the Harmony Program and the New York Philharmonic will be partners in the newly established Philharmonic Academy, Jr., as announced in recent press. This partnership will provide young Harmony Program students with the invaluable opportunity to study and perform with the New York Philharmonic’s world-class musicians.
On January 31st, Harmony Program students from New York City and Long Island will participate in our fourth master class led by Philharmonic members. Our students will spend the day with their Philharmonic colleagues in sectional and orchestral rehearsals and top things off with a side-by-side public performance. In addition to our master class, this year the Harmony Program is creating a selective All Star Ensemble of its most accomplished young musicians. Members of the New York Philharmonic will help adjudicate the student auditions, host ensemble members at a Young People’s Concert and special reception, and train them for a public performance on May 20th.
The Harmony Program thanks the New York Philharmonic for helping to make these special opportunities possible!
