Harmony Program All Stars Perform with Musicians of the New York Philharmonic

On Saturday, June 3rd, our 2017 Harmony Program All Stars performed alongside their New York Philharmonic mentors at the David Rubenstein Atrium at Lincoln Center. This year’s 17 All Stars were selected through a competitive audition process adjudicated by New York Philharmonic musicians. As All Stars, they were matched with musicians of the Philharmonic, including violinists Shanshan Yao and Anna Rabinova, violist Peter Kenote, and horn player Richard Deane, and teaching artists, cellist Wendy Law and bassist Brian Ellingsen. Their collaborative culminating concert followed months of coaching by their Philharmonic mentors and featured the world premiere of Two Peruvian Dances for String Orchestra composed for them by Gabriela Lena Frank through the Harmony Program’s partnership with music publishers G. Schirmer. The piece was directed by Philharmonic Assistant Conductor Joshua Gersen. We thank our partners who make this annual event possible and congratulate our young All Stars on their hard work and accomplishments.
