Harmony Program Students to Perform at “The Concert to Benefit El Sistema-Inspired Youth Orchestras”

On June 28th, over 150 students from local El Sistema-inspired youth orchestras will come together at the United Palace Theatre for a very special concert to benefit programs near and far that are working to expand access to music education opportunities for young people in underserved communities.

“The Concert” begins with a performance by 150 children from programs in the New York metro area, including the Harmony Program, Corona Youth Music Project, Make Music NOLA, Union City Music Project, Up-Beat NYC, Washington Heights and Inwood (WHIN) Music Project, and the Youth Orchestra of St. Luke’s.

Following the students’ performance will be the 5th annual New York City Summer Mahler Project performance, featuring the Sheep Island Ensemble, an all-star cast of young professionals led by conductor James Blachly and renowned concertmaster Krista Bennion Feeney (Orchestra of St. Luke’s).

Jamie Bernstein, daughter of composer/conductor Leonard Bernstein and friend of the Harmony Program, will host this ambitious and festive evening performance.
