Our annual teacher training began last week with 18 hours of professional development led by Harmony’s Director of Education, Paula Nemerson, and guest lecturers. Topics included classroom management, lesson planning, and rehearsal techniques, among many other subjects relevant to our teachers’ experience with us.
As always, our teachers bring to the Harmony Program extraordinary musical talent; they are graduates of top music schools, including Juilliard, Eastman and the Manhattan School of Music. Our teachers boast extensive performance careers in many different countries, including France, Germany, Italy, Poland, and China, but they all have in common a commitment to sharing their gifts with others. As one of our cello teachers, Melody, explained in her application essay, “My goal as a teacher is to instill an appreciation of music and communicate the importance of music as a connector of all people.”
Thank you, Harmony Program teachers, for your dedication to our mission and for the difference you make in our students’ lives!
