The Harmony Program collaborates with several cultural organizations throughout the year, and we are proud to highlight some recent collaborations.
On March 7th, several Harmony Program students were invited to participate in a side-by-side rehearsal with students from the New York Youth Symphony and Youth Orchestra of St. Luke’s under the direction of conductor, Tanya Chanphanitpornkit.
Faculty and students from the Interlochen Arts Academy visited our classes on March 7th to lead orchestra sectionals and a jazz improvisation workshop, and several of our students performed as part of the Interlochen Partners Orchestra at Merkin Hall on March 8th, alongside peers from across the city.
Members of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra coached our senior orchestra on performing “Orpheus-style,” without a conductor. Students practiced how to lead their sections and communicate their ideas across the orchestra. The collaboration culminated in a performance on March 22nd with Orpheus members at the St. Paul & St. Andrew United Methodist Church.
