The Harmony Program Welcomes New Staff Members
Please welcome our new Program Manager, Dr. Joanne Chang and new Program Assistant, Ryan Shaw.
Joanne is an educator, administrator, and pianist with experience building and managing impactful arts programs in K–12, collegiate, and community settings. She has held teaching faculty and administrative roles at institutions including The Juilliard School, Manhattan School of Music, Nightingale-Bamford School, 92NY, Music Teachers National Association, and Indiana University. Joanne holds a Doctor of Music in Piano Performance from Indiana University and a Graduate Diploma in Collaborative Piano from The Juilliard School as a Kovner fellow. With a strong background in teaching, performing, and leadership, Joanne is passionate about combining this expertise to provide inclusive, positive impact music education experiences that center student growth and community engagement.
Ryan is an arts administrator trained in bass trombone and fluent in Mandarin Chinese. His experience includes work with Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and The Tianjin Juilliard School. He holds a master’s degree in Orchestral Studies from The Tianjin Juilliard School and dual bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Chinese Language & Literature from Boston University. Ryan is passionate about continually learning and growing, and is thrilled to have the opportunity to do so with the Harmony Program.
