Teaching Excellence at the Harmony Program
The Harmony Program has over 70 talented teaching artists leading our classrooms this year. They will receive over 75 hours of paid training to support their work with us and will be guided by a new Harmony Program curriculum this year, aligned with state and national standards in music education.
Our professional development programming includes several distinguished guests: Robert Duke, Head of Music and Learning at The University of Texas at Austin; Michael Linsin, founder of Smart Classroom Management; William Bauer, Professor of Music Education at the University of Florida’s School of Music; and Karin Hendricks, Associate Professor and Chair of Music Education at Boston University. Their workshops will cover lesson planning and pacing, classroom management, universal design for learning, and assessment and evaluation.
Throughout the year, our teaching artists gather from across our 25 sites with Harmony Program administrators, mentors, and each other to share their experiences in the classroom, evaluate their progress, and explore industry topics with experts in various related fields.
