Harmony Program Partners with NYC Dept. of Education on Pilot Initiative

The Harmony Program is pleased to have been chosen to partner with the New York City Public School (NYCPS) Arts Office on a new venture to increase equity in, and access to, music education. For our part of this effort, we are providing violin instruction, as well as ear training and music theory, to students in 3K at The Mahalia Jackson School in Harlem.

At the Harmony Program, we know that music study supports the development of language skills, executive function, physical dexterity, memory, and self-confidence. We also know that the earlier students begin their music studies, the earlier they begin to avail themselves of these important benefits. We are grateful for this opportunity help the city expand musical opportunities for some of our youngest students, and we look forward to witnessing their growth and enjoyment.
