Harmony Program Awarded $2 Million to Build Youth Orchestras
The Harmony Program has received a $2 million grant from an anonymous family foundation. The award will advance the Harmony Program’s three-year vision of a city-wide system of youth orchestras and ensembles. This long-term initiative will serve music students at various stages of their development by creating a pathway for their progression, from beginner instruction through a tiered network of collective music-making experiences, available in each borough. The Harmony Program’s goal is to provide every young musician with accessible and affordable opportunities to discover the joy and benefits of making music together. We look forward to sharing updates on this important effort in the months ahead.
